While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house has the name of Gunarovi. At this time, the exact origin of this name is unknown to us.
This house is the third of five documented houses in church documents to be considered a “new” house in Vukovci. The best estimate for the construction of these series of houses is after 1890.
The Flajnik family that originally inhabited this house is a family from the marriage between Jurij Flajnik (Brožičev from Otok) and Marija Žagar (Damelj 31) who previously lived at Vukovci 10 before likely building this house and living here.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Jurij Flajnik1 b. 1851. He married Marija Žagar b. 1855. Together they had 7 children, including:
1A. Marija Flajnik1 b. 1876 in Vukovci 10, m. 1901 to Johan Flajnik (Brožičev from Otok)1.
1B. Doroteja Flajnik b. 1884 in Vukovci 10, m. 1906 to Nikolaj Šutej (Komačev from Otok) — they lived at Kovačji Grad 1.
1C. Blaž Flajnik b. 1888 in Vukovci 10, m. 1907 to Marija Simčič (Ravidičeva) — they remained at this house.
1D. Barbara Flajnik b. 1892, m. 1912 to Franc Starešinič (Jakov from Sečje Selo).
1E. Jurij Flajnik b. 1895, m. 1912 to Barbara Tomac (Zdihova 27) — they remained at this house.
1. Johan Flajnik was the nephew of Jurij Flajnik and cousin of Marija Flajnik.
Marija Žagar m. 1907 to her second husband Jurij Simčič (Ravidičev). They did not have any children.
Blaž Flajnik [1C] and his wife Marija Simčič had 8 children, including:
2A. Marija Flajnik b. 1907, m. 1936 to Vinko Valenčič.
2B. Johan Flajnik b. 1909, m. 1937 to Marija Šterbenac (Doljanova) — they lived at Otok 21.
At this point, this family moved to Otok 21 and continued having children there.
Jurij Flajnik [1E] and his wife Barbara Tomac had 7 children, including:
