According to a tax registers of the 15th to 17th centuries, the village of Golek pri Vinici included a total of 8 Hübe or arable land divided amongs the 94 residents. It is important to point out that these tax registers only list individuals who were subjects of the Lord for whom the register was created. There were other individuals, along with their families, living in Golek pri Vinici at this time.
When we turn to Birth and Marriage Registers (matične knjige) kept by the Catholic Church, we can identify 13 individual households existing in Golek pri Vinici in the year 1820. Some of these households, and the houses themselves, have since vanished. Other have been since created, usually as delniki, i.e. by partitions of a pre-existing household into two (or more) households. It is also important to note that because of the fact that Golek pri Vinici is right next to Podklanec, some of the village boundaries have changed. What this means is that some houses that were once known to be part of Golek pri Vinici now have addresses in Podklanec and vice versa. Due to the complexity of some of these realignments, some of the new house addresses are still unknown to us.
The families in Golek pri Vinici are long standing families where ownership of households did not change hands very often. We have found 5 distinct surnames in the oldest church records including, Miroslavič (2 houses), Ostronič (4 houses), Rogina (2 houses) and Stegne (2 houses). It is interesting to note that there are some unique surnames found in Golek pri Vinici that are not found anywhere else in the parish such as Grguraš. Also, the Brožič surname also appears here. This surname seems to surface here, in Otok and Zilje but there is no definite certainty as to where this name originated.
