While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house carries the name of Kaplanovi. This name directly translates to “chaplain” which suggests that the original owner of this household was a chaplain, likely at the church in Hrast. The neighbouring house at Hrast 3 also shares this household name as a brother from the earliest generation that we have researched was the head of the household there.
Through the period of our studies, we have found seventeen distinct houses which originally carried the Flajnik surname. This is the first of the seventeen houses (in order of house address). The Flajnik surname is only originally found in Hrast and Perudina.
