While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house carries the name of Lukini. The origin of the name likely comes from Luka Zatovšek who married into this house in the early 19th century.
Through the period of our studies, we have found 4 distinct houses which carried the Benec surname. This is the third of the four houses (in order of house address). The Benec surname is only originally found in Podklanec.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Nikolaj Benec b. 1779. He married Marija Tomec b. 1778. Together, they had at least 3 children, including:
1A. Marko Benec b. 1803. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
1B. Katarina Benec b. 1809, m. ca. 1830 to Luka Zatovšek — they remained at this house.
1C. Anton Benec b. 1816. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
Luka Zatovšek and his wife Katarina Benec [1B] had 6 children, including:
2A. Katarina Zatovšek b. 1831, m. 1854 to an unknown man.
2B. Nikolaj Zatovšek b. 1833, m. ca. 1860 to Ana Stegne (Podklanec 27) — they remained at this house.
2C. Ana Zatovšek b. 1836, m. 1859 to Johan Moravec (Makarov).
2D. Matija Zatovšek b.1839. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
2E. Johan Zatovšek b. 1841, m. 1868 to a woman from Pribanjci 40.
2F. Jurij Zatovšek b. 1845. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
Nikolaj Zatovšek [2B] and his wife Ana Stegne had 8 children, including:
3A. Marija Zatovšek b. 1860, m. 1886 to a man from Pribanjci 41.
3B. Nikolaj Zatovšek b. 1863, m. 1889 to Ana Mravinec (Černova from Sečje Selo) — they remained at this house.
3C. Johan Zatovšek b. 1866. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
3D. Ana Zatovšek b. 1871. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
3E. Katarina Zatovšek b. 1875, m. 1899 to Jože Kobe (Pirnatov from Hrast).
3F. Matija Zatovšek b. 1878, m. 1904 to Katarina Bubaš (Gornja Bubašova from Učakovci) — they lived at Sečje Selo 18.
3G. Barbara Zatovšek b. 1882. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
Nikolaj Zatovšek [3B] and his wife Ana Mravinec had 1 child which died in early childhood.
I believe that I know what happened to Jurij Zatovšek b.1845. My great grandfather may have been Johan Zatovšek born 1868. I can send you church records from Dubovac, Karlovac, Croatia regarding Jurij. If this Johan is my great grandfather, he married Marija Nosar (Knosar) and they lived in Bosiljevo, Croatia. My grandfather is on the Bosiljevo records as Ivan Satošek, born June 24, 1869. In 1888 he emigrated to North America where he became known as John Satushek. There is some confusion because in at least some of the Bosiljevo records my great grandfather is listed as Luka Satošek.
