While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either. The house at Podklanec 16 is one of those houses.
Through the period of our studies, we have found 4 distinct houses which carried the Benec surname. This is the second of the four houses (in order of house address). The Benec surname is only originally found in Podklanec.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for the wife of the patriarch Ana Hudak b. 1774. Together, with her husband, she had at least 4 children, including:
1A. Johan Benec b. 1796, m. ca. 1829 to Katarina Kajin (Poljankina) — they remained at this house.
1B. Marija Benec b. 1804, died at the age of 42. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.
1C. Ana Benec b. 1809, m. 1838 to Peter Tomec (Lovrečov).

2B. Jurij Benec b. 1836, m. 1858 to Katarina Karin (Gornja Karinova) — they remained at this house.
2C. Ana Benec b. 1836, had 1 illegitimate child — she remained at this house.
2E. Barbara Miroslavič b. 1847, m. 1876 to Matija Stanko (Mužnov).
