Through the period of our studies, we have found five distinct houses which originally carried the Balkovec surname in Balkovci. This is the fifth of the five houses (in order of house address). The Balkovec surname is only originally found in Hrast, Balkovci and Zilje.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Ivan Balkovec b. 1777. He married Barbara Žugelj (Žugljova from Zilje) b. 1781 Together, they had at least 4 children, including:
1A. Janko Balkovec b. 1802, m. 1824 to Barbara Jaketič (Ivičina from Zilje) — they remained at this house.
1B. Ana Balkovec b. 1808, m. 1836 to Nikolaj Šegina (Milani 7).
1C. Katarina Balkovec b. 1812, m. 1838 to Tomaž Vitanac (Kastavic Selo 8).
1D. Barbara Balkovec b. 1819. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.

2B. Ivan Balkovec b. 1831. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
2C. Jurij Balkovec b. 1832, m. 1856 to Katarina Jaketič (Perušičeva from Zilje) — they remained at this house.
2D. Ana Balkovec b. 1835, m. 1859 to a man from Bosiljevo Parish.
2E. Katarina Balkovec b. 1842, m. 1872 to a man from Johi 14.

3B. Marija Balkovec b. 1863, m. 1891 to Matija Balkovec (Petrišin from Zilje).
