While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either.
This house is the seventh of nine documented houses in church documents to be considered a “new” house in Damelj. The best estimate for the construction of this house is around 1895.
According to the existing church records, only 2 people ever lived at this house finding their roots at Damelj 28, the Županovi. This was after living at Damelj 32 where they had their family.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Matija Fortun (Županov). He married Ana Lakner (Sinji Vrh 11).
After Matija Fortun died in 1906, Ana Lakner went to live with her illegitimate daughter Ana who married at the Romančevi in Sinji Vrh.
