While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house originally carried the name of Ziljani. This household name is likely related to the Čadonič man who was the patriarch at this house at the start of the recorded history which we have researched so far.
The Čadonič surname is originally only found only in Zilje. This Čadonič is from Zilje 19 (Gornji Miheli). He married Katarina Flajnik who is thought to be of the family who originally lived at this house. It is conceivable that there were no males to take the role of patriarch therefore leaving it open to one (or the only) daughter to have her husband move in.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is forJurij Čadonič b. 1769. He married Katarina Flajnik b. ca. 1772. Together, they had at least 4 children, including:
1A. Jurij Čadonič b. before 1799, m. before1820 to Katarina Klobučar — they remained at this house.
1B. Barbara Čadonič b. 1800. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
1C. Katarina Čadonič b. 1802. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.

2B. Miha Čadonič b. 1822, m. 1875 to Helena Mravinec (Dolnja Mravinčeva from Perudina) — they lived at Hrast 34.
2C. Johan Čadonič b. 1824. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
After her husband’s death, Katarina Klobučar m. ca. 1828 to Johan Rutel. Together, they had at least 3 children, including:
2D. Katarina Rutel b. 1828, m. 1856 to Jurij Flajnik (Magainčev) — they remained at this house.
2E. Ana Rutel b. 1830, died at the age of 28. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.
Jurij Flajnik and his wife Katarina Rutel [2D] had 1 child:
3A. Jurij Flajnik b. 1855. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
At this point, the original lineage of Flajnik/Čadonič/Rutel ended at this house as no children continued having families here. At this point, Johan Flajnik (Hrast 15) moved in with his wife Ana Flajnik (Magainčeva) (sister of above mentioned Jurij Flajnik) to live with their family.
Johan Flajnik and his wife Ana Flajnik had 4 children, including:

Hello! So happy to have found your site. I have been searching for more information about my great-grandfather, Peter Flanik, born in “Austria” (according to U.S. records) in 1882. Although his name is Flanik, his name is spelled “Flajnik” in one early immigration document. I do believe entry 4A above could be him. I would be happy to discuss more with you via email if possible!
