While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house originally carried the name of Martinovi. This name is likely related to the name of the man who originally established this homestead, Martin.
Through the period of our studies, we have found seven distinct houses which originally carried the Verbanec surname. This is the third of the seven houses (in order of house address). At the start of the documented history that we currently have available to us, there were two families living here, a Šutej family and a Verbanec family. Šutej is not a name found in Učakovci but rather in the neighbouring Sečje Selo and Kovačji Grad leading us to believe that the true household owners were the Verbanec.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for the wife of the patriarch Barbara b. 1778. Together, with her husband, she had at least 3 children, including:
1A. Jurij Verbanec b. 1804, m. ca 1834 to Marija Krušec (Lončarova) — they remained at this house.
1B. Marija Verbanec b. 1810, m. 1833 to Matija Špehar (Papov).
1C. Johan Verbanec b. 1812. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
Jurij Verbanec [1A] and his wife Marija Krušec had 1 child:
2A. Jurij Verbanec b. 1834, m. 1860 to Ana Verbanec (Pavličeva) — they remained at this house.
Jurij Verbanec [2A] and his wife Ana Verbanec had 5 children:
3A. Marija Verbanec b. 1861. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
3B. Ana Verbanec b. 1864. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
3C. Katarina Verbanec b. 1867. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
