While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house carries the name of Belavičevi. The origin of the name is likely related to the original owners of this house.
This is one of the houses that is considered a “new house” as the numbering no longer carries a east to west orientation. This house is at the eastern end of Podklanec back in the Dolnji Podklanec part of the village.
Through the period of our studies, we have found 3 distinct houses which carried the Belavič surname. This is the last of the three houses (in order of house address). The Belavič surname is only originally found in Podklanec.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Miha Kajin (Poljankin) b. 1785. He married Ana Belavič b. 1793. Together, they had at least 5 children, including:
1A. Johan Kajin b. 1817, m. 1846 to Ana Trempus (Ogulin 4) — they remained at this house.
1B. Marija Kajin b. 1819, had 1 illegitimate child — she remained at this house.
1C. Ana Kajin b. 1821. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
1D. Jurij Kajin b. 1824, died at the age of 20. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.
1E. Katarina Kajin b. 1828, died at the age of 67. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.
Johan Kajin [1A] and his wife Ana Trempus did not have any children.
Johan Kajin [1A] m. 1854 to his second wife Ana Cvetaš (Gornja Cvetašova from Zilje). Together they had 8 children, including:
2A. Matija Kajin b. 1859, m. 1882 to Marija Benec (Grgečova) — they remained at this house.
2B. Franc Kajin b. 1861. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
2C. Johan Kajin b. 1864. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
Matija Kajin [2A] and his wife Marija Benec had 6 children, including:
3A. Matija Kajin b. 1883. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
3B. Jože Kajin b. 1886. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
3C. Marija Kajin b. 1890, m. 1908 to Janko Spahić (Spahiči 16).
3D. Barbara Kajin b. 1892, m. 1912 to Franc Fugina (Blažev from Učakovci).
3E. Bartolomej Kajin b. 1895. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
At this point, the Kajin lineage ends in this house. Although not yet confirmed, it is plausible that Miha Spahić is the son of Janko Spahić and Marija Kajin [3C].
Miha Spahić (Spahiči 16) m. 1927 to Ana Mravinec (Gornja Bertova from Sečje Selo). Together they had 8 children.
