While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either.
Through the period of our studies, we have found seventeen distinct houses which originally carried the Flajnik surname. This is the last of the seventeen houses (in order of house address). The Flajnik surname is only originally found in Hrast, Perudina and Vukovci.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Marko Flajnik b. 1786. He married Katarina Mihelič b. 1796. Together, they had at least 7 children, including:
1A. Barbara Flajnik b. 1827, m. ca. 1853 to Jakob Gorše (Hrast 24)1.
1B. Katarina Flajnik b. 1829, m. ca. 1853 to Johan Mravinec (Mravinčev from Nova Lipa) — they remained at this house.
1C. Ana Flajnik b. 1830, m. ca. 1855 to Johan Flajnik (Hrast 39).
1D. Marija Flajnik b. 1834, died at the age of 47. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.
1E. Margareta Flajnik b. 1839. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
At this point, with all of Marko’s children marrying to other houses, no one remained at home ending the original Flajnik lineage at this house. Nikolaj Gorše (Hrast 24)1 and his wife Helena Flajnik (Janšanova38) moved in but never ended up having any children.
1. Jakob Gorše and Nikolaj Gorše were brothers.
