While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house originally carried the name of Jakovi. This name is likely derived from the patriarch Jakob Starešinič.
Through the period of our studies, we have found one distinct houses which originally carried the Starešinič surname in Sečje Selo. Despite the fact that the patriarch was a Starešinič man, his wife was a Šutej which leads to believe that he married into this house as Šutej is a much more common surname in this part of the parish. The Starešinič surname is more commonly found in Preloka.
