While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either. The house at Podklanec 19 is one of those houses.
Through the period of our studies, we have found 3 distinct houses which carried the Tomec surname This is the first of the three houses (in order of house address). The Tomec surname is only originally found in Golek pri Vinici and Podklanec.
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Matija Tomecb. 1766. He married Barbara Špehar b. 1783. Together, they had at least 3 children, including:
1A. Matija Tomec b. 1805, m. ca. 1829 to Barbara Peršetič — they remained at this house.
1B. Barbara Tomec b. 1813, m. 1835 to Miha Čemas (Čemasov from Zilje) — they lived at Zilje 34.
1C. Ana Tomec b. 1819, m. 1848 to Jurij Čadonič (Gornji Krčmarov from Zilje) — they lived at Zilje 35.
Matija Tomec [1A] and his wife Barbara Peršetič had at least 8 children, including:
2A. Katarina Tomec b. 1832, m. ca. 1864 to Jurij Stegne (Podklanec 27).
2B. Matija Tomec b. 1835, m. to Ana Špelič (Klučarova from Drenovec) — they remained at this house.
2C. Marija Tomec b. 1837, m. 1870 to Johan Hudak (Kalčev from Učakovci).
2D. Jožefa Tomec b. 1846, m. 1889 to a man from Pribanjci 57.
Matija Tomec [1B] and his wife Ana Špelič did not have any children.
Matija Tomec [1B] m. 1875 to his second wife Barbara Valent (Belčji Vrh 28). Together they had 3 children which died in infancy.
