While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either. In the case of some smaller settlements such as Ogulin, Drežnik and Kovačji Grad, household names were never widely adopted as there was no need to differentiate families from each other. In the case of Kovačji Grad, despite the fact that 4 of the 8 houses had people with the surname of Šutej, there is very limited repetition of surnames leading to the use of surnames as the “household name”.
Through the period of our studies, we have found four distinct houses which originally carried the Šutej surname in Kovačji Grad. This is the second of the four houses (in order of house address).
The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Matija Šutej b. 1775. He married Ana Barič b. 1784. Together, they had at least 2 children, including:

Matija Šutej [1A] and his wife Ana Šutej had 7 children, including:
2A. Barbara Šutej b. 1830, m. 1853 :to. Johan Fugina (Blažev from Vukovci).
2B. Matija Šutej b. 1833, m. 1853 to Katarina Brožič (Mihelova from Otok) — they remained at this house.
2C. Katarina Šutej b. 1836, m. 1865 to Jurij Prokšelj (Prokšeljov from Učakovci) — they lived at Sečje Selo 2.
2D. Ana Šutej b. 1839, m. 1869 to Matija Pirnat (Pirnatov from Hrast).
2E. Jurij Šutej b. 1844, m. 1872 to Marija Šnelar (Polančeva) — they remained at this house.
Matija Šutej [2B] and his wife Katarina Brožič had 4 children, including:
3A. Matija Šutej b. 1864, m. 1887 to Ana Kobe (Belčeva from Vukovci) — they remained at this house.
Jurij Šutej [2E] and his wife Marija Šnelar had 6 children, including:
3B. Barbara Šutej b. 1873. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
3C. Jože Šutej b. 1875. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
3D. Johan Šutej b. 1879, m. 1904 to Jožefa Žagar (Vinica 44) — they lived at Vinica 55.
3E. Ana Šutej b. 1881. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
3F. Marija Šutej b. 1884. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.
Matija Šutej [3A] and his wife Ana Kobe had 7 children, including
4A. Johana Šutej b. 1896, m. 1914 to Dragotin Magajna (Fratrovci 21).
4B. Amalija Šutej b. 1899, m. 1921 to Matija Filipčič (Fratrovci).
4C. Katarina Šutej b. 1906, m. 1929 to Josip Filipčič.
After the death of Johana Šutej’s husband Dragotin Magajna, Johana returned home to Kovačji Grad where she married Lukas Živčič (Gorinci 7).
Lukas Živčič and his wife Johana Šutej [4A] had 2 children.
