Kroci (the plural of the surname Krotec) was likely established by individuals with surname Krotec. The earliest mention of people with the surname Krotec was in the 1593 Urbarium. Petar, Miha and Martin Krotec (Krutac) are documented. The 1610 Urbarium documents a Peter Krotec, and a Peter and Miha Krotac as well.
Prior to 1800, there were likely 4 households in Kroci: Rženičini (later Mikanovi), Grdinovi, Stari Nežiči (later Jeličini) and Vučiči. These were all with Krotec surname.
Many Krotec families died out and families from surrounding villages moved into empty houses. Surnames such as Pavlakovič, Miketič and Čadonič are now docemented in Kroci during the 19th century.
The Nežiči (also Kolari) likely descended from the Stari Nežiči, and the Ivičini were an offshoot of the Grdinovi (the status animarum names the Ivičini house as Grdinovi).
The Grdinovi, Jeličini, Mikanovi and Nežičevi lineages ended in the 20th century.
