The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either.<\/p>\n<p>This house is the first of nine documented houses in church documents to be considered a \u201cnew\u201d house in <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/\">Damelj<\/a>. The best estimate for the construction of this house is around 1880.<\/p>\n<p>The family that originally inhabited this house was an offshoot of the Fortun family from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-14-ivanovi\/\">Damelj 14<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-14-ivanovi\/\">Ivanovi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Jo\u017ee Fortun (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-14-ivanovi\/\">Ivanov<\/a>). He married Marija Lukani\u010d (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-12-andrijasevi\/\">Andrija\u0161eva<\/a>). Together they had 12 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>1A. Marija Fortun b. 1869 in <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-12-andrijasevi\/\">Damelj 12<\/a>. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>1B. Jo\u017ee Fortun b. 1874 in <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-14-ivanovi\/\">Damelj 14<\/a>, m. 1899 to Marija Verta\u010di\u010d (Gri\u010d 16)<sup>1<\/sup> &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>1C. Katarina Fortun b. 1885, m. 1906 to Peter Kapari\u010d (Fratrovci 13).<\/p>\n<p>1D. Franc Fortun b. 1888. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>1E. Matija Fortun b. 1881, m. 1905 to Marija Verta\u010di\u010d (Gri\u010d 16)<sup>1<\/sup> &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p><sup>1. <em>Marija Verta\u010di\u010d married Matija Fortun after his brother Jo\u017ee died in 1904.<\/em><\/sup><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Jo\u017ee Fortun [1B] and his wife Marija Verta\u010di\u010d had 2 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>2A. \u0160tefanija Fortun b. 1900, m. 1920 to Johan \u017dalec (Gu\u0161tinkin from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/sinji-vrh\/sinji-vrh\/\">Sinji Vrh<\/a>)<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>2B. Marija Fortun b. 1903, m. 1929 to Jo\u017ee Fortun (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-28-zupanovi\/\">\u017dupanov<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marija Verta\u010di\u010d m. 1905 to her second husband Matija Fortun [1E]. Together they had 1 child:<\/p>\n<p>2C. Matija Fortun b. 1908, m. 1931 to Marija \u017dalec (Gu\u0161tinkina from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/sinji-vrh\/sinji-vrh\/\">Sinji Vrh<\/a>)<sup>2<\/sup> &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p><sup>2. <em>Marija \u017dalec is the daughter of Johan \u017dalec from his marriage to his first wife.<\/em><\/sup><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Matija Fortun [2C] and his wife Marija \u017dalec had 4 children.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence.
