This house has the name of \u017dupanovi. This name suggests that a member or members of this family were a \u017dupan, mayor or in more general terms a village leader of some sort.<\/p>\n
Through the period of our studies, we have found four houses which originally carried the Fortun surname in Damelj<\/a>. This is the fourth of the four houses (in order of house address). The Fortun surname is not very common in Damelj<\/a> but is found sporadically across the parishes of Vinica<\/a>, Dragatu\u0161<\/a> and Sinji Vrh<\/a>.<\/p>\n The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Peter Fortun b. 1777. Jurij Fortun b. 1809. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n 1C. Peter Fortun b. 1812, m. to Katarina Filip (Mikani\u010dana<\/a>).<\/p>\n 1D. Katarina Fortun b. 1815, m. 1834 to Jurij Kobe (Ivan\u010dev<\/a> from Otok<\/a>) — they lived at Vukovci 13<\/a>.<\/p>\n 1E. Lucija Fortun b. 1819, m. 1843 to Johan \u017dagar (Petrov<\/a>).<\/p>\n 1F. Matija Fortun b. 1822.
