These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house has the name of Janko\u010di. This name finds its origins in the name of the multiple patriarchs of this household named Janko, Johan or Janez.<\/p>\n<p>Through the period of our studies, we have found two houses which originally carried the Horvat surname in <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/kot-pri-damlju\/\">Kot pri Damlju<\/a>. This is the second of the two houses (in order of house address). The Horvat surname is not very common in the <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/\">Vinica parish<\/a> but very common across all of Slovenia. It is likely a mutation of Hrvat which translates to Croatian.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Johan Horvat b. 1798. He married Katarina Fortun b. 1802. They did not have any children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At this point, Johan Horvat (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/kot-pri-damlju\/the-people\/kot-pri-damlju-24-jureci\/\">Jure\u010dev<\/a>) moved in with his wife Katarina Lovren\u010di\u010d (Gorica 6) who already had some children born at <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/kot-pri-damlju\/the-people\/kot-pri-damlju-24-jureci\/\">Kot 24<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Johan Horvat and his wife Katarina Lovren\u010di\u010d had 9 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>2A. Johan Horvat b. 1853, m. 1879 to Katarina \u017dalec (Gu\u0161tinkina from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/sinji-vrh\/sinji-vrh\/\">Sinji Vrh<\/a>) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>2B. Miha Horvat b. 1858. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>2C. Margareta Horvat b. 1867, m. 1887 to Johan \u017dalec (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-30-blinci-lahrecek\/\">Lahre\u010dkov<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/\">Damelj<\/a>).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Johan Horvat [2A] and his wife Katarina \u017dalec had 6 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>3A. Johan Horvat b. 1880, m. 1907 to Marija Fortun (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/the-people\/damelj-13-fortunovi\/\">Fortunova<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/damelj\/\">Damelj<\/a>) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>3B. Franc Horvat b. 1883. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>3C. Marija Horvat b. 1885, m. 1902 to Miha \u0160pehar (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/kot-pri-damlju\/the-people\/kot-pri-damlju-21-caprnovi-ivancevi\/\">Ivan\u010deva<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>3D. Matija Horvat b. 1888. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>3E. Franca Horvat b. 1896, m. 1920 to Martin Ro\u017eman (Klanec 27).<\/p>\n<p>3F. Peter Horvat b. 1903, m. 1927 to Marija Lakner (\u0160peharji 22) &#8212; they lived at Dalnje Njive 1.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Johan Horvat [3A] and his wife Marija Fortun had 6 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>4A.
