While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house has the name of Ivanovi. This name is likely derived from the patriarch of this household. There is some evidence that suggests that this family is directly connected to the Fortunovi of Damelj 13.<\/p>\n
Through the period of our studies, we have found four houses which originally carried the Fortun surname in Damelj<\/a>. This is the third of the four houses (in order of house address). The Fortun surname is not very common in Damelj<\/a> but is found sporadically across the parishes of Vinica<\/a>, Dragatu\u0161<\/a> and Sinji Vrh<\/a>.<\/p>\n The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Johan Fortun b. 1780. He married Ana Fortun b. 1782. Together, they had at least 8 children, including:<\/p>\n 1A. Jo\u017ee Fortun b. 1799, m. ca. 1846 to Katarina \u017dalec (Dol\u010di\u010dkinova<\/a>)1<\/sup> — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n 1B. Ana Fortun b. 1804, died at the age of 81. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n 1C. Johan Fortun b. 1806. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n 1D. Katarina Fortun b. 1812, had 1 illegitimate child — she remained at this house.<\/p>\n 1E. Lucija Fortun b. 1818, died at the age of 75. At this time, it is unknown if she was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n 1F. Margareta Fortun b. 1822, m. 1847 to Jo\u017ee Lakner (Draga 6).<\/p>\n 1G. Marija Fortun b. 1825, m. 1946 to Johan \u017dalec (Dol\u010di\u010dkinov<\/a>)1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n 1. Johan \u017dalec and Katarina \u017dalec were siblings.<\/em><\/sup><\/p>\n Jo\u017ee Fortun [1A] and his wife Katarina \u017dalec had 4 children, including:<\/p>\n 2A. Jo\u017ee Fortun b. 1847, m. 1871 to Marija Lukani\u010d (Andrija\u0161eva<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n 2B. Johan Fortun b. 1850, m. 1872 to Margareta Mukavec (\u0160peharji 5) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jo\u017ee Fortun [2A] and his wife Marija Lukani\u010d had 12 children, including:<\/p>\n 3A. Marija Fortun b. 1869. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n 3B. Jo\u017ee Fortun b. 1874, m. 1899 to Marija Verta\u010di\u010d (Gri\u010d 16) — they lived at Damelj 33.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n At this point, Jo\u017ee Fortun moved his family to the newly constructed Damelj 33 and continued having children with his wife.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Johan Fortun [2B] and his wife Margareta Mukavec had 10 children, including:<\/p>\n 3C. Katarina Fortun b. 1881, m. 1907 to Johan Sterbenc (Srednji Radenci 3).<\/p>\n 3D. Peter Fortun b. 1883, m. 1908 to Ana \u017dalec (Zeljeva from Sinji Vrh<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n 3E. Franc Fortun b. 1886, m. 1909 in Calumet, Michigan to Ana Suke\u017ei\u010d (Dobli\u010de).<\/p>\n 3F. Matija Fortun b. 1889.
