While every house in Slovenia has a civic address, many houses also carry a household name. These names are how other people typically referred to that family. This house has the name of Stankovi. It is conceivable that the patriarch at some time or man who built this house was named Stane.<\/p>\n
Through the period of our studies, we have found four houses which originally carried the Fortun surname in Damelj<\/a>. This is the first of the four houses (in order of house address). The Fortun surname is not very common in Damelj<\/a> but is found sporadically across the parishes of Vinica<\/a>, Dragatu\u0161<\/a> and Sinji Vrh<\/a>.<\/p>\n The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Johan Fortun b. 1765. He married Ana \u017dalec b. 1767. Together, they had at least 4 children, including:<\/p>\n 1A. Matija Fortun b. 1807, m. 1827 to Ana \u0160nelar — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n 1B. Ana Fortun b. 1810, m. ca. 1828 to Johan \u017dagar (Matkov).<\/p>\n 1C. Miha Fortun b. 1813. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n 1D. Nikolaj Fortun b. 1819. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n Matija Fortun [1A] and his wife Ana \u0160nelar had 8 children, including:<\/p>\n 2A. Katarina Fortun b. 1832, m. ca. 1859 to Jo\u017ee Filip (Kova\u010dev from Draga<\/a>).<\/p>\n
