According to a tax registers of the 15th to 17th centuries, the village of Damelj<\/a> included a total of 32 H\u00fcbe or arable land divided amongst the residents.\u00a0 It is important to point out that these tax registers only list individuals who were subjects of the\u00a0Lord for whom the register was created.\u00a0 There were other individuals, along with their families, living in Damelj<\/a> at this time.<\/p>\n

When we turn to Birth and Marriage Registers (mati\u010dne knjige) kept by the Catholic Church,\u00a0we can identify 21 individual households existing in Damelj<\/a> in the year 1820.\u00a0 Some of these households, and the houses themselves, have since vanished.\u00a0 Other have been since created, usually as\u00a0delniki, i.e.\u00a0 by partitions of a pre-existing household into two (or more) households.<\/p>\n

The families in Damelj<\/a> are long standing families where ownership of households did not change hands very often likely because of its distant location in relation to other villages as well as the Vinica parish itself.\u00a0 We have found 7 distinct surnames in the oldest church records including, Filip (2 houses), Fortun (4 houses), Kobe (4 houses), Lovren\u010di\u010d (1 house), \u017dagar (7 houses), \u017dalec (2 houses) and \u017dlenar (2 houses).<\/p>\n

For the sake of clarity, included in the list are the houses of Damelj (D)<\/a> and Kot pri Damlju (K)<\/a> with both the original house numbers and today\u2019s house numbers (if the house still exists). Also included is the household name (if known).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
