While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either. In the case of some smaller settlements such as Ogulin<\/a>, Dre\u017enik<\/a> and Kova\u010dji Grad<\/a>, household names were never widely adopted as there was no need to differentiate families from each other. In the case of Kova\u010dji Grad, despite the fact that 4 of the 8 houses had people with the surname of \u0160utej, there is very limited repetition of surnames leading to the use of surnames as the “household name”. This house is one of the exceptions in Kova\u010dji Grad. This household name is Novoseli. This name was usually given to a family that was newly settled in a given village.<\/p>\n

Through the period of our studies, we have found four distinct houses which originally carried the \u0160utej surname in Kova\u010dji Grad<\/a>. This is the third of the four houses (in order of house address).<\/p>\n

The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Johan \u0160utej b. 1774. He married Katarina Pavle\u0161i\u010d b. 1779. Together, they had at least 2 children, including:<\/p>\n

1A. Peter \u0160utej b. 1812, m. 1836 to Ana Prok\u0161elj (U\u010dakovci 25<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

1B. Anton \u0160utej b. 1816. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

Peter \u0160utej [1A] and his wife Ana Prok\u0161elj had at least 12 children, including:<\/p>\n

2A. Barbara \u0160utej b. 1841, m. 1868 to Miha Fortun (Priblanov from Vukovci<\/a>).<\/p>\n

2B. Johan \u0160utej b. 1843, m. ca. 1881 to Marija \u0160utej (Fari\u010deva from Vukovci<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

2C. Jurij \u0160utej b. 1846, m. 1876 to Marija \u017dalec (Zeljeva from Sinji Vrh<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

2D. Magdalena \u0160utej b. 1850, m. 1879 to Peter Kobe (Pa\u010dov from Otok<\/a>).<\/p>\n

2E. Miha \u0160utej b. 1861. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

Jurij Medo\u0161 [2A] and his wife Barbara Desina had 9 children, including:<\/p>\n

3A. Matija Medo\u0161 b. 1820, m. ca. 1847 to Marija Bari\u010d (Mikulinova<\/a> from U\u010dakovci<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

3B. Ana Medo\u0161 b. 1821, m. to Johan Bari\u010d (Mikulinov<\/a> from U\u010dakovci<\/a>).<\/p>\n

3C. Helena Medo\u0161 b. 1824. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n

3D. Marija Medo\u0161 b. 1829. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n

3E. Barbara Medo\u0161 b. 1834. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n

3F. Katarina Medo\u0161 b. 1841. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n

Nikolaj \u0160utej and his wife Katarina Medo\u0161 [2C] had 3 children, including:<\/p>\n

3B. Nikolaj \u0160utej b. 1843. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

3C. Katarina \u0160utej b. 1845. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n
