According to the tax registers of the 15th to 17th centuries, the village of Kova\u010dji Grad<\/a> was included under the “administrative division” of Vukovci<\/a> and ultimately U\u010dakovci<\/a>. Otok<\/a> was also considered to be a part of Vukovci<\/a> through evidence of the contiguous house numbering in the 19th century.<\/p>\n

When we turn to Birth and Marriage Registers (mati\u010dne knjige) kept by the Catholic Church, we can identify 8 individual households existing in\u00a0Kova\u010dji Grad<\/a> in the year 1820. Some of these households, and the houses themselves, have since vanished. Other have been since created, usually as delniki, i.e. by partitions of a pre-existing household into two (or more) households.<\/p>\n

The families in\u00a0Kova\u010dji Grad<\/a> are long standing families where ownership of households did not change hands very often. We have found 5 distinct surnames in the oldest church records including, Medo\u0161 (1 house), Per\u0161e (1 house), Runti\u010d (1 house), \u0160nelar (1 house) and \u0160utej (4 houses).<\/p>\n

For the sake of clarity. below is a list of the houses of Kova\u010dji Grad (KG)<\/a>, Vukovci (V)<\/a> and Otok (O)<\/a> with both the original house numbers and today\u2019s house numbers (if the house still exists).
