Our earliest research to date has been able to take us back to about 1750 for this village. At that time, the most dominant names to exist in this village were Mravinec, Radovi\u010d and \u0160utej among others. Many of these names still exist here today with some much more diminished from what they once were before. Unlike other villages in the Vinica region, this village continues to thrive but that is because of its proximity to Vinica and the fact that part of the village is along the main road that leads towards the Croatian border.<\/p>\n

When we turn to Birth and Marriage Registers (mati\u010dne knjige) kept by the Catholic Church,\u00a0we can identify 16 individual households existing in Se\u010dje Selo<\/a> in the year 1820.\u00a0 Some of these households, and the houses themselves, have since vanished.\u00a0 Other have been since created, usually as\u00a0delniki, i.e.\u00a0 by partitions of a pre-existing household into two (or more) households.<\/p>\n

The families in Se\u010dje Selo<\/a> are long standing families where ownership of households did not change hands very often. We have found 8 distinct surnames in the oldest church records including, Hu\u0161i\u010d (1 house), Kambi\u010d (1 house), Mik\u0161i\u010d (1 house), Moravec (1 house), Mravinec (5 houses), Radovi\u010d (3 houses), Stare\u0161ini\u010d (1 house) and \u0160utej (3 houses).<\/p>\n
