Through the period of our studies, we have found five distinct houses which originally carried the Balkovec surname in Balkovci<\/a>. This is the fifth of the five houses (in order of house address). The Balkovec surname is only originally found in Hrast<\/a>, Balkovci<\/a> and Zilje<\/a>.<\/p>\n The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Ivan Balkovec b. 1777. He married Barbara \u017dugelj (\u017dugljova<\/a> from Zilje<\/a>) b. 1781 Together, they had at least 4 children, including:<\/p>\n 1A. Janko Balkovec b. 1802, m. 1824 to Barbara Jaketi\u010d (Ivi\u010dina<\/a> from Zilje<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n 1B. Ana Balkovec b. 1808, m. 1836 to Nikolaj \u0160egina (Milani 7).<\/p>\n 1C. Katarina Balkovec b. 1812, m. 1838 to Toma\u017e Vitanac (Kastavic Selo 8).<\/p>\n 1D. Barbara Balkovec b. 1819.
