The <a title=\"Hrastovkini-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Gornji Hajduki<\/a> and <a title=\"Hajduki iz brda\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/srednje-zilje\/zilje-45-hajduki-iz-brda\/\">Hajduki iz brda<\/a> are offshoots from this household. The surname of this family has likely always been Balkovec, and in records before 1820, individuals from this family sometimes have surnames recorded as Hajduk. The current house was built after the previous burned down in 1925 (along with the <a title=\"Oficiri-Jurkini\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-27-oficiri-jurkini\/\">Oficiri<\/a> house next door), killing many of the young inhabitants.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Johan Balkovec. He married Ana Buba\u0161. Together, they had at least 4 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>1A. Matija Balkovec b. 1777. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>1B. Marija Balkovec b. 1780. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>1C. Nikolaj Balkovec b. 1784, m. 1803 to Katarina \u017dalec (<a title=\"\u017dalci\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-13-zalci\/\">\u017dal\u010deva<\/a>)<sup>1<\/sup> &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>1D. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n<p>4G. Nikolaj Balkovec b. 1892, died at the age of 80 in Montana. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Marko Balkovec [4C] and his wife Marija \u017dalec had 7 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>5A.
