They find their origins from the original <a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Hajduk<\/a> household at <a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Zilje 25<\/a> (today the <a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Dolnji Hajduki<\/a>), and ca. 1857 built the new house Zilje 42 just east across the road. At this point, we then had <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Gornji Hajduki<\/a> (or just <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Hajduki<\/a>) at <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Zilje 35<\/a>, and the new Hrastovkini at Zilje 42 likely named this because of Marija Gor\u0161e who was born in <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/\">Hrast<\/a>. In about 1900, according to oral tradition, the <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Hrastovkini<\/a> evicted the <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Dolnji Kr\u010dmari<\/a> from their house at <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Zilje 35<\/a> and moved in there. It is at this point they became known as the Gornji Hajduki for purely geographic reasons.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Nikolaj Balkovec (<a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Hajdukov<\/a>). He married Marija Gor\u0161e (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/the-people\/hrast-pri-vinici-33-zapojcevi\/\">Zapoj\u010deva<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/\">Hrast<\/a>). Together they had 4 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>1A. Marija Balkovec b. 1845, m. 1866 to Miha \u017duni\u010d (Bacinov from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zunici\/\">\u017duni\u010di<\/a>) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>1B. Ana Balkovec b. 1848, m. 1873 to a man from Prili\u0161\u0107e 46.<\/p>\n<p>1C. Katarina Balkovec b. 1852, m. 1879 to Franc Domitrovi\u0107 (Milani 8)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Miha \u017duni\u010d and his wife Marija Balkovec [1A] did not have any children.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marija Balkovec [1A] m. 1869 to her second husband Miha \u010cemas (<a title=\"Peri\u010dini\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/central-gornje-zilje\/zilje-6-pericini\/\">Peri\u010din<\/a>). Together they had 7 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>2A. Peter \u010cemas b. 1870, m. 1897 to Magdalena Krotec (Preloka 32) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>2B. Barbara \u010cemas b. 1875, m. 1897 to Jurij Medo\u0161 (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/ucakovci\/the-people\/ucakovci-8-persetovi\/\">Per\u0161etov<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/ucakovci\/\">U\u010dakovci<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>2C. Katarina \u010cemas b. 1879, m. 1902 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Nikolaj Balkovec (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/the-people\/hrast-pri-vinici-34-polancevi\/\">Polan\u010dev<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/\">Hrast<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>2D. Helena \u010cemas b. 1884, m. 1908 to Peter Panjan (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/the-people\/hrast-pri-vinici-30-panjanovi\/\">Panjanov<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/\">Hrast<\/a>) &#8212; they lived at <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/hrast-pri-vinici\/the-people\/hrast-pri-vinici-47\/\">Hrast 47<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Peter \u010cemas [2A] and his wife Magdalena Krotec had 9 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>3A. Barbara \u010cemas b. 1900, m. 1921 to Nikolaj Moravec (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-12-moravci\/\">Morav\u010dev<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to oral tradition, Peter \u010cemas [2A] evicted the <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Dolnji Kr\u010dmari<\/a> family from their house at <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Zilje 35<\/a> ca. 1903. The Hrastovkini then moved into <a title=\"Dolnji Kr\u010dmari-Gornji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-35-dolnji-krcmari-gornji-hajduki\/\">Zilje 35<\/a> and continued having more children. The name of the household changed to Gornji Hajduki, since they now lived west of the (Dolnji) Hajduki.
