Anton, on the hill overlooking most of <a title=\"Zilje\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/\">Zilje<\/a>. Nothing remains of this house today. The family originated from the <a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Dolnji Hajduki<\/a>, and was created ca. 1880. The original Balkovec surname changed to \u017dalec in 1892. The last child born at this house, in 1908, died as an infant. The family soon after moved to the USA, abandoning the house.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Jo\u017ee Balkovec (<a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Hajdukov<\/a>). He married Magdalena \u017dalec (<a title=\"Brdari\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-14-meznari-brdari\/\">Brdarova<\/a>). Together they had 2 children:<\/p>\n<p>1A. Jo\u017ee Balkovec b. 1878, m. 1909 to Barbara \u010cemas (<a title=\"Izklan\u010devi\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/central-gornje-zilje\/zilje-36-izklancevi\/\">Izklan\u010deva<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>1B. Ana Balkovec b. 1881, m. in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Magdalena \u017dalec had 2 illegitimate children:<\/p>\n<p>1C. Franc \u017dalec b. 1886, m. 1908 to Marija Bro\u017ei\u010d (<a title=\"Dolnji Bro\u017ei\u010di\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-32-dolnji-brozici\/\">Dolnja Bro\u017ei\u010deva<\/a>) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<p>1D. Miha \u017dalec b. 1889, m. 1913 to Marija \u017dalec (<a title=\"\u017dalci\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-13-zalci\/\">\u017dal\u010deva<\/a>).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Franc \u017dalec [1C] and his wife Marija Bro\u017ei\u010d had 1 child which died in infancy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Franc \u017dalec [1C] m. 1909: to his second wife Katarina Balkovec (<a title=\"Vuki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-24-vuki\/\">Vukova<\/a>).
