{"id":1630,"date":"2016-06-11T14:19:16","date_gmt":"2016-06-11T19:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/?page_id=1630"},"modified":"2018-08-12T11:34:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-12T16:34:34","slug":"kroci","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/kroci\/","title":{"rendered":"Kroci"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kroci is a hamlet on the northern, Slovenian, side of the river Kolpa, south of the main road from Vinica to <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/brdo\/\">Preloka<\/a>, between the hamlet of <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/grduni\/\">Grduni <\/a>and the village of Preloka.\u00a0 This hamlet is part of the administrative region (<em>gemeinde<\/em>) of <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/\">Preloka<\/a>, which included the hamlets of <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/grduni\/\">Grduni<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/jakovini\/\">Jakovini<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/brdo\/\">Brdo<\/a> (the old name for the village of Preloka).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/kroci\/\">Kroci<\/a> falls within the region of Slovenia known as <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/\">Bela krajina<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/\">White Carniola<\/a> in English, <em>Weisskrain<\/em> in German), thus named to distinguish it from the remainder of the historical Austrian Duchy of Carniola (Herzogthum Krain) to the north. Prior to inclusion into the duchy, this area was under the control of the Kingdom of Croatia, which had already been absorbed into the Kingdom of Hungary. Counts from Carinthia and Carniola to the north, setting their sights southward to the sparsely populated primeval forests of <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/\">Bela krajina<\/a>, conducted successful military campaigns in the 12th century. Based on church records and <em>Urbariae<\/em>, this hamlet was always considered part of Preloka.<\/p>\n<p>The first mention of a place named Kroci is likely in the Josephian Cadastre of 1763 and documented as <em>Krozi.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2682 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro.png\" alt=\"kro\" width=\"860\" height=\"715\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro.png 860w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro-300x249.png 300w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro-768x639.png 768w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kro-400x333.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2681 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer.png\" alt=\"kroaer\" width=\"870\" height=\"684\" srcset=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer.png 870w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer-300x236.png 300w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer-768x604.png 768w, http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/files\/2016\/06\/kroaer-400x314.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Francisian Cadastre shows all 6 households that ever existed in Kroci.
