The Dolnji Bro\u017ei\u010di household at Zilje 32 is not the original Bro\u017ei\u010d household in Zilje<\/a>. The Dolnji Bro\u017ei\u010di split from the original Bro\u017ei\u010di<\/a> household ca. 1818. However, there is evidence the two families remained close enough that each had children born in both the Dolnji and Gornji Bro\u017ei\u010d<\/a> houses. The name of this household derives from the Bro\u017ei\u010d surname, which was in use until Franc \u010cemas (Mali Maji\u0161\u010dar<\/a>) married into the family in 1899.<\/p>\n

The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Nikolaj Bro\u017ei\u010d (Bro\u017ei\u010dev<\/a>). He married Katarina \u0160tajdohar. Together, they had at least 6 children, including:<\/p>\n

1A. Matija Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1814, m. 1839 to Katarina Balkovec (Hajdukova<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

1B. Marija Bro\u017ei\u010d, b. 1821. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n

1C. Barbara Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1823, m. 1847 to Jurij Stare\u0161ini\u010d (Pe\u010dov<\/a>).<\/p>\n

1D. Nikolaj Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1824. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

1D. Johan Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1829, died at the age of 71. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n

2D. Jo\u017ee Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1846, died at the age of 29. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n

2E. Marko Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1851. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

2F. Helena Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1854, m. 1872 to Johan Buba\u0161 (Johi 3).<\/p>\n

Marija Bro\u017ei\u010d [1B] had 1 illegitimate child:<\/p>\n

2G. Jurij Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1848. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

Matija Bro\u017ei\u010d [2B] and Ana Stare\u0161ini\u010d had a tumultuous marriage. According to oral tradition, Ana and Marko Bro\u017ei\u010d [2E] had an affair during her marriage with Matija [2B]. The 1870 status animarum confirms this and records that Ana is an adulteress. She bore at least 5 children at the Dolnji Bro\u017ei\u010di, including:<\/p>\n

3A. and 3B. the status animarum records “2 todtgeborne edes ermordete<\/em>“, 2 stillbirths each murdered.<\/p>\n

3C. Magdalena Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1879, m. 1899 to Franc \u010cemas (Mali Maji\u0161\u010dar<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

3D. Marija Bro\u017ei\u010d b. 1886, m. 1908 to Franc \u017dalec (Hajduk iz brda<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Matija Bro\u017ei\u010d [2B] m. 1888 to his second wife Katarina \u010cadoni\u010d (Biri\u010deva<\/a> from Balkovci<\/a>). They did not have any children.<\/p>\n

Franc \u010cemas and his wife Magdalena Bro\u017ei\u010d [3C] had 4 children:<\/p>\n

4A. Franc \u010cemas b. 1902, m. 1923 to Barbara \u010cadoni\u010d (Dolnja Stegne\u010dka<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

4B. Matija \u010cemas b. 1905, m. 1929 to Magdalena Ivanovi\u010d (Dolnja Mihelova<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

4C. Peter \u010cemas b. 1910, died at the age of 60. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n

4D. Stanislav \u010cemas b. 1912, m. 1930 to Barbara \u017dugelj (\u017dugljova<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Franc \u010cemas spent a great deal of time in Pittsburgh during his marriage, with arrivals at Ellis Island in 1895, 1908, and 1911. His wife Magdalena once told her granddaughter that she did not get a letter from Franc once for a 7 year span. He came home for the last time ca. 1925, started on building a new house at Zilje 32, then died in 1926. Magdalena Bro\u017ei\u010d [3C] died in 1958.<\/p>\n

Franc \u010cemas [4A] and his wife Barbara \u010cadoni\u010d had 1 child:<\/p>\n

5A. Rudolf \u010cemas b. 1924, died at the age of 20.<\/p>\n

Franc \u010cemas [4A] worked in Toronto, Canada until he died in 1941. His wife Barbara moved back to Zilje 5<\/a> and died in 1996.<\/p>\n
