The household at Zilje 13 is named for the surname in use at the house since the 1700s. The surname \u017dalec does not appear in either of the tax registers of the 1600s for Zilje.<\/a> The Horvat surname does appear in these registers. Marriages between \u017dalec men and Horvat women occurred in the mid 1700s, and the records state the \u017dalec men were from Zilje. We theorize these \u017dalec men came to Zilje to work on the Horvat farms, since the Horvat family seemingly had only daughters. These would represent the change in surname from Horvat.<\/p>\n

The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Marko Horvat. He married Katarina. Together, they had at least 5 children, including:<\/p>\n
