The area is part of the traditional region of <a title=\"Lower Carniola\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lower_Carniola\">Lower Carniola<\/a> and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.<\/p>\n<p>The local parish church is dedicated to John the Evangelist and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Novo Mesto. It was a relatively simple structure that was greatly rebuilt between 1822 and 1823.
