While most houses in Slovenia carry a household name, there are some houses which do not exist anymore and were deserted many years before anyone was aware of their existence. The household names for these houses is therefore lost as it was not documented anywhere either. Another contributing factor to this lack of a household name may also be the size of a settlement. Ogulin<\/a> at its peak only had 10 houses which may have lead to a lack of \u201cofficial\u201d household names being documented in church documents. Everyone knew everyone so there was no real need to uniquely identify households. Nonetheless, even though they are not documented, household names still exist for these families today.<\/p>\n

Ogulin 8 is within the range of new houses in this settlement having been built likely in the late 1870s to the early 1880s.<\/p>\n

This house was originally inhabited by a \u0160pehar family. We have yet to find a connection to any other house in the Vinica<\/a> parish but this is a surname that is much more common in the villages within the Sinji Vrh<\/a> parish.<\/p>\n

After the \u0160pehar family vacated this house, a Gangl family from Vinica<\/a> moved in.<\/p>\n

The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Miha \u0160pehar (Dalnje Njive 1) b. 1830. He married Marija Mravinec b. 1837 (Mike\u0161eva<\/a> from Se\u010dje Selo<\/a>). Together they had 3 children, including:<\/p>\n

1A. Nikolaj \u0160pehar b. 1872, m. 1897 to Marija Gla\u010d (Grge\u010dova<\/a> from Podklanec<\/a>) — they remained at this house.<\/p>\n

1B. Miha \u0160pehar b. 1874, m. 1911 to Ana Miheli\u010d (Ro\u017emanova from Dolnji Suhor<\/a>).<\/p>\n

1C. Jurij \u0160pehar b. 1877, died at the age of 20. At this time, it is unknown if he was ever married or had children.<\/p>\n

Nikolaj \u0160pehar [1A] and his wife Marija Gla\u010d had 1 child:<\/p>\n

2A. Nikolaj \u0160pehar b. 1898. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n

At this point in time, the \u0160pehar lineage came to an end at this house.<\/p>\n

Jo\u017ee Gangl (Mlinov from Vinica<\/a>) and his wife Marija Pavlakovi\u010d (Petrova from Grduni<\/a>) had 3 children.<\/p>\n
