His older brother was married at the <a title=\"Brdari\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-14-meznari-brdari\/\">Brdari<\/a>, so Nikolaj with his wife Marija \u010cemas (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/central-gornje-zilje\/zilje-36-izklancevi\/\">Izklan\u010deva<\/a>) built the house ca. 1885. The surname at the house changed in the 1900s when Jurij Tomec from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/golek-pri-vinici\/\">Golek<\/a> married into the household.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The oldest record we have found to date for a person from this house is for Nikolaj \u017dalec (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/mureticevo-selo\/zilje-14-meznari-brdari\/\">Brdarov<\/a>). He married Marija \u010cemas (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/gornje-zilje\/central-gornje-zilje\/zilje-36-izklancevi\/\">Izklan\u010deva<\/a>). Together they had 5 children, including:<\/p>\n<p>1A. Jurij \u017dalec b. 1877. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>1B. Marija \u017dalec b. 1883, m. 1903 to Marko Balkovec (<a title=\"Dolnji Hajduki\" href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/preloka\/zilje\/the-people\/dolnje-zilje\/zilje-25-dolnji-hajduki\/\">Dolnji Hajdukov<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At this time, Mikola built the new house at Zilje 50, the family moved there, where they continued having children, including:<\/p>\n<p>1C. Franc \u017dalec b. 1885, m. 1909 in Pittsburgh, USA to Mare Vlahovi\u010d (Janko\u010da from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/vinica\/\">Vinica<\/a>) &#8212; they lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>1D. Gregor \u017dalec b. 1888. At this time, it is unknown what happened to him afterwards.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Franc \u017dalec [1C] and his wife Marija Vlahovi\u010d had at least 3 children in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, including:<\/p>\n<p>2A. Mary Francis Zalec b. 1911. At this time, it is unknown what happened to her afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>2B. Barbara Zalec, b. 1913, m. 1935 to Jurij Tomec (<a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/golek-pri-vinici\/the-people\/golek-pri-vinici-18-tomcevi\/\">Tom\u010dev<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/gfamilytree.com\/history\/the-places-we-come-from\/bela-krajina-white-carniola\/crnomelj\/vinica\/golek-pri-vinici\/\">Golek<\/a>) &#8212; they remained at this house.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Jurij Tomec and his wife Barbara \u017dalec [2B] had 1 child:.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mikolini household at Zilje 50 is named for its originator, Nikolaj \u017dalec (Brdarov).
